Zaton Holiday Resort is located in the central part of the beautiful Adriatic about 25km north from Zadar Airport, 14km from Zadar city centre. It is the ideal place for a family holiday full of entertainment and activities for everyone.
The resort covers an area of 100 ha alongside a magnificent bay (zaton means bay in Croatian) in a completely natural environment. The area's rich vegetation, natural woods, well-tended parks and well-designed gardens make up an oasis of exceptional beauty.
I suppose that the Resort could be quite full in the high season and may not be good for somebody who doesn't like overcrowded places. It is a quite big Resort so it can accommodate a lot of tourists !!!
The plan for the long weekend was to get a cheap flight to Croatia and spend 3 full days at the sea. Because it was only a short stay the travel time had to be as short as possible. We got a Ryanair flight from Karlsruhe Baden-Baden to Zadar where a car was already waiting for us and brought us to Zaton Holiday Resort. I booked the car transfer online through a website Shuttletours.net. The service was good and the price was right. Our driver was very helpful and spoke good English. Thanks for all the good advices ! We paid total 101 EUR for the transfer ( Zadar - Zaton - Zadar ).

At the time we went there the place was half-empty but it was no problem for us - this is the way we like it :) There was already some Animation going on so kids enjoyed mini disco and other activities organized by the animator team. They were really good and had great contact with kids any age and language :) We still sing some of their songs at home :)

There are many worth-seeing attractions in the area. The nearest is Nin, the oldest royal town in Croatia. It is situated only 4 kilometres from Zaton on a small island ringed by long sandy beaches. Archaeological research gives us evidence of the present of man in Nin about 10 000 years ago ! If you don't have a car you can easily walk to Nin or rent a bike at the Resort.

Nin's Lagoon: Beautiful sandy beach near Nin island. It is perfect for families with small children. It's shallow water makes it a very safe place for kids and will also help parents to relax a bit in the sunshine :)
Green crab. There are a lot of crabs and fishes in the shallow water of Nin's Lagoon.
Mountain Bike trip to Vir island. Vir is famous for its overpopulation during the summer holiday so expect crowds if you are going to Vir in the high season ! I was there in Mai :) There are good spots for snorkeling at the end of the island. The water is crystal-clear, plenty of underwater animals just off the shore.
